Abuja NNPC Topshot Afshatu Abdullahi Murdered By Driver
Hajia Afshatu Abdullahi was a top executive at NNPC Abuja. Her job required she lived mostly in Abuja while her immediate family lived in Auchi. She went home from time to time to spend time the family. Afshatu lived alone in a house located off Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, in Garki. The only other person who lived with her was a male house help. There were two other men around her, her driver, who didn't live with her, and a security man who lived inside her premises.
Last Sallah holiday, weekend before this last one, her family was expecting her home in Auchi. She called her husband and told him she was on her way to see them. She never showed up. All efforts to reach her on the phone proved abortive. Her husband tried to reach her at work, no one had seen her. He then set out for Abuja in search of his wife.
The search party got to Afshatu's house last week to find the house abandoned, aside from the security man, there was no else there. The security man said he hadn't seen his madam for a few days and assumed she had traveled. They broke into the home and found the place in disarray. Many expensive furniture missing, her jewelry gone, it was obvious the house had been burgled.
While searching, the husband opened the freezer in the kitchen and discovered Afshatu's body inside with lacerations on her neck and other parts of her body. They called the police.
Neighbours told police they had seen the house help driving the woman's SUV some days earlier but thought nothing of it. It was apparently an in-house robbery and murder, perpetuated by two men she trusted, her house help and her driver, who have since disappeared with her two cars, including a 2011 Toyota SUV, her cheque book, as well as cash she always kept in her home.
The security man found at her home is the only person being held for her murder at the Garki police station and he claims not to know anything about her murder. The two murderers are still at large. Investigations are still on.
If you are a woman who lives alone, mind the kind of people you allow into your home. You are vulnerable, people can take advantage

Nigeria ranks 2nd in child mortality Diarrhoea kills 500,000 children daily worldwide
Nigeria ranks second after China in child mortality record, just as diarrhoea claims 500,000 children worldwide daily, Dr Otive Igbuzor, the Executive Director, African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development, has said.
Igbuzor said this, on Wednesday, in Abuja at the opening ceremony of the staff training on Community-Led Total Sanitation and Waste Management.
Community-Led Total Sanitation is a United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)-assisted project aimed at contributing to the improvement of environmental health by addressing behavioural change related to sanitation and waste management by promoting community participation.
“The fact is that children die every single day in Nigeria. The rate is only second to China and it is unacceptable,” Igbuzor said.
He noted that the proportion of the Nigerian population with access to basic sanitation was still very low, adding that many people were dying from diseases such as diarrhoea, dysentery and cholera.
“These diseases occur because people defecate in bushes around their houses and when rain falls, it washes it into the river and the water is consumed by individuals,” he said.
The News agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the organisation last year focused on the Durunmi and Ruwan Fulani communities both in the FCT.

Revealed: “Only Gov Shettima Knows Boko Haram’s Whereabouts”
It has been revealed to Huhuonline.com that the incumbent Governor of Borno state, Alhaji Kashim Shettima and his predecessor former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff are the only persons who have access to the hideouts of members of the dreaded Boko Haram
Islamic sect.
The revelation, made by the Borno state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Baba Basharu came on the heels of statements credited to Governor Shettima in an interview with Associated Press (AP) where the Governor claimed that the issue of Boko Haram is over following the recent arrest of a top ranking member of the sect alongside five others.
Huhuonline.com findings confirmed that Alhaji Baba Basharu revelation is also hinged on the fact that “the issue of Boko Haram started during the Ali Sheriff’s led-ANPP government, which led to the extra-judicial killings of top members of the sect, including their leader Ustaz Mohammed Yusuf, as well as arrest of some members of the sect, but unfortunately, all the arrests made so far has not stopped the conflict, instead, it aid in regenerating more attacks.
The PDP state chairman, who said he was shocked that “this statement coming from the governor, and not from members of the JTF, it simply means that the governor is a brain behind the formation of the sect, especially at this critical period when the Federal government is looking for ways of dialogue with the sect.
“I am really disappointed with Shettima for his comment on Boko Haram arrest. Is it now that boko haram members were arrested? He queried, there were a lot of arrests, but all the arrests made so far has not nip the problem in the bud, instead, it add to more attacks from the sect, so why would he as a governor tell the whole world that Boko Haram is over, when we in Borno state are still sleeping with our two eyes not closed.
“It is very undemocratic for the governor to conclude that when some few members of the sect were arrested, then the insecurity being experienced in the state is over, while his government which has failed to address the problem of poverty, unemployment, injustice among others that breeds criminal activities, is posing more harm than good to the state.
“If Shettima would come out and said that some members of the sect were arrested and that he believed that attacks from the sect are over, then he is telling the federal government to overlook or throw to the dust bin the Ambassador Gaji Galtimari led-Committee Report on the security challenges in the North East”.
“If arresting members of the sect would bring to an end of Boko Haram, there wouldn’t have been any crises since the 2009 uprising. Even as I prayed that the issue of Boko Haram would be a thing of the past, I want to emphasized that dialogue is the best option, rather than for a serving governor to come out and started deceiving Nigerians on an issue best to known to him”

Enogie Flees From Police over kidnapping, Kidnappers finger Royal Father as Godfather
Huhuonline.com can authoritatively disclose that a traditional ruler, the Enogie of Ogheghe Community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo state has fled his palace and domain as the Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Command, declared him
wanted in connection to the rising cases of kidnap in Edo State.
His Royal Highness Aghatise Ighiriaro was declared wanted after some suspected kidnappers that were arrested confessed his link to their activities, leading to the recovery of arms and ammunition in his palace after it was searched.
Huhuonline.com checks also revealed that the traditional ruler quickly escaped from the police dragnet following tip-off by some of his loyalists who felt it was sacrilegious to detain a king or royal father.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. David Omojola who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Edo state command, ASP Peter Ogboi, confirmed that “the search for the Enogie is as a result of his alleged complicity in the recent cases of kidnapping, a most thriving and fatal crime in Edo State in spite of the intense war both the police and state security have waged to combat the crime.
A dependable police source told Huhuonline.com that arms and ammunitions that were recently paraded with suspected kidnappers in the state were recovered from a room in the palace, adding that the kidnap suspects were sleeping in the room when the police raided the palace and arrested them.
The Edo state police command had paraded five suspected kidnappers in military camouflaged uniforms and mobile police uniforms, for operation after blocking the highways before abducting their targeted victims.
The suspects, Shammah Ovwiemedaye, Osasumwen Imade, Obodo Oduware, Friday Edosuyi and Uyi Edogiawere were arrested when the police raided the fleeing Enogie’s palace in Ogheghe Community, located along the axis of Benin-Sapele Road.
The community, according to our source has been deserted due to fear expressed by the people that the police could swoop on anybody else, especially family members and friends in the course of their investigation.
Another source said” the king might have disappeared from the heat of the declaration so as to go behind the scene to financially free himself and his apprehended subjects as that was the common reaction from kidnapping ring leaders.”

NCC Advises Naija on killer phone numbers but to beware of killer sims
NCC Advises Naija on killer phone numbers but to beware of dubios sim&tariffs bundled with facebook from S.Africa
The 'killer' numbers are supposedly 09141 and 091441. So basically, when these numbers call you and you pick = you die! Some people claim that 10 people died in Wukari while receiving calls from these phone numbers. Really? Wow! And some people are buying this? OK!
Anyway, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has advised Nigerians to ignore such rumours. The commission said the claim is false and without any iota of truth, and that nothing like that could happen to somebody responding to a phone, no matter the number through which such calls are made. It is only very gullible people that will believe such a rumour, they said
LAGOS, NIGERIA—Nigeria’s government is assuring people in Africa’s most populous nation: a phone call can’t kill you.
A text message has spread across the oil-rich country in recent days, warning that people will die if they answer mobile phone calls from 09141. The widespread fear forced the Nigerian Communications Commission to issue a statement Wednesday saying it is “unimaginable that somebody will die while receiving a call.”
Commission spokesman Reuben Muoka says: “It is only very gullible people that will believe such a rumour.”
Text message panics in Nigeria have included rumours of bombings and rumours that acid rain from seasonal dust storms can burn people alive. The campaigns are aided by poor education and lack of faith in the government.
A call to the number Thursday resulted in no fatalities.

Housewife who was Raped And Impregnated By Robbers
How I Was Raped And Impregnated By Robbers, Housewife Tells CourtA Lagos housewife has narrated to an Ojo Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria how she was raped by armed robbers while travelling to Abuja to process her travelling documents to Italy.
Responding to an application filed by her husband, Mr. Romanus Agu, a Nigerian based in Italy, seeking dissolution of the 10-year old marriage on grounds of infidelity and having a child outside marriage, Mrs. Ugonma Agu described her husband’s accusation that she was impregnated by one of her lovers as untrue.
Narrating how she got pregnant for another man, Ugonma said: “My husband sent me money from Italy to process our travelling papers to join him in Italy and said I have to go to Abuja to do that. I told him I don’t know anybody there and he got angry. He suggested that I go with a night bus and that when I get there in the morning, it will be easy for me. I took the night bus the following day and we were attacked by armed robbers. All the money with me was taken and I was also raped.
“I called my husband and told him all that happened and he yelled at me. A few weeks later he called to apologise and also sent money for me to abort the pregnancy. When I got to the hospital, the doctors told me there was nothing there. But five months later, I realized that I was pregnant and decided to keep it without his knowledge.”
The petitioner had sought to divorce Ugonma on grounds of infidelity, threat to life, lack of love and having a child outside marriage.
According to him, after their marriage on 29 December, 2001 he moved his family to Enugu State and after a few years returned to Italy.
“Not too long after my departure, I started receiving several calls from some of my friends and kinsmen back home about my wife’s infidelity and how she was seen in different hotels with different men. I called her father and told him all I heard and also asked him to caution his daughter.
“Her infidelity was confirmed when she got pregnant for one of her lovers in 2007 and moved to his house in Lagos without my knowledge,” he told the court.
He also accused her of being carefree and unable to feed his children properly. He pleaded with the court to grant him custody of his kids.
The respondent denied the allegations and accused him of neglecting his children. “He insults me whenever I ask him for money,” she added.
After hearing the parties, the president of the court, Mr. T.A. Saheed adjourned the case to 20 September, 2011.

Chinua Achebe Forces 50 Cent To Rename 'Things Fall Apart' Film
So, 50's football film Things Fall Apart has been dropped out of media rotation for awhile, so in this circumstance where it's back to topic, I couldn't be happier, as you're favorite fall-off rapper is now being busted by one of the world's greatest penmen.
Nigerian author Chinua Achebe dropped his literary masterpiece Things Fall Apart back in 1958 (you probably read it in school), and, you'll probably remember, inspired The Roots to name their staple album after the novel. Achebe's title was originally pulled from Yeats' poem "The Second Coming," and now that 50's looking to nab it for a cool $1 million, Achebe's camp has given him a complete literary bitch-slap over the matter.
Here's what Achebe's lawyer said: "The novel with the said title was initially produced in 1958 (that is 17 years before rapper 50 Cent was born), [is] listed as the mostly read book in modern African literature, and won’t be sold for even $1 billion."
So it goes now, 50 has gone with the title All Things Fall Apart, which is still a rip, but whatever
