Abuja NNPC Topshot Afshatu Abdullahi Murdered By Driver
Hajia Afshatu Abdullahi was a top executive at NNPC Abuja. Her job required she lived mostly in Abuja while her immediate family lived in Auchi. She went home from time to time to spend time the family. Afshatu lived alone in a house located off Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, in Garki. The only other person who lived with her was a male house help. There were two other men around her, her driver, who didn't live with her, and a security man who lived inside her premises.
Last Sallah holiday, weekend before this last one, her family was expecting her home in Auchi. She called her husband and told him she was on her way to see them. She never showed up. All efforts to reach her on the phone proved abortive. Her husband tried to reach her at work, no one had seen her. He then set out for Abuja in search of his wife.
The search party got to Afshatu's house last week to find the house abandoned, aside from the security man, there was no else there. The security man said he hadn't seen his madam for a few days and assumed she had traveled. They broke into the home and found the place in disarray. Many expensive furniture missing, her jewelry gone, it was obvious the house had been burgled.
While searching, the husband opened the freezer in the kitchen and discovered Afshatu's body inside with lacerations on her neck and other parts of her body. They called the police.
Neighbours told police they had seen the house help driving the woman's SUV some days earlier but thought nothing of it. It was apparently an in-house robbery and murder, perpetuated by two men she trusted, her house help and her driver, who have since disappeared with her two cars, including a 2011 Toyota SUV, her cheque book, as well as cash she always kept in her home.
The security man found at her home is the only person being held for her murder at the Garki police station and he claims not to know anything about her murder. The two murderers are still at large. Investigations are still on.
If you are a woman who lives alone, mind the kind of people you allow into your home. You are vulnerable, people can take advantage

Nigeria ranks 2nd in child mortality Diarrhoea kills 500,000 children daily worldwide
Nigeria ranks second after China in child mortality record, just as diarrhoea claims 500,000 children worldwide daily, Dr Otive Igbuzor, the Executive Director, African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development, has said.
Igbuzor said this, on Wednesday, in Abuja at the opening ceremony of the staff training on Community-Led Total Sanitation and Waste Management.
Community-Led Total Sanitation is a United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)-assisted project aimed at contributing to the improvement of environmental health by addressing behavioural change related to sanitation and waste management by promoting community participation.
“The fact is that children die every single day in Nigeria. The rate is only second to China and it is unacceptable,” Igbuzor said.
He noted that the proportion of the Nigerian population with access to basic sanitation was still very low, adding that many people were dying from diseases such as diarrhoea, dysentery and cholera.
“These diseases occur because people defecate in bushes around their houses and when rain falls, it washes it into the river and the water is consumed by individuals,” he said.
The News agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the organisation last year focused on the Durunmi and Ruwan Fulani communities both in the FCT.

Revealed: “Only Gov Shettima Knows Boko Haram’s Whereabouts”
It has been revealed to Huhuonline.com that the incumbent Governor of Borno state, Alhaji Kashim Shettima and his predecessor former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff are the only persons who have access to the hideouts of members of the dreaded Boko Haram
Islamic sect.
The revelation, made by the Borno state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Baba Basharu came on the heels of statements credited to Governor Shettima in an interview with Associated Press (AP) where the Governor claimed that the issue of Boko Haram is over following the recent arrest of a top ranking member of the sect alongside five others.
Huhuonline.com findings confirmed that Alhaji Baba Basharu revelation is also hinged on the fact that “the issue of Boko Haram started during the Ali Sheriff’s led-ANPP government, which led to the extra-judicial killings of top members of the sect, including their leader Ustaz Mohammed Yusuf, as well as arrest of some members of the sect, but unfortunately, all the arrests made so far has not stopped the conflict, instead, it aid in regenerating more attacks.
The PDP state chairman, who said he was shocked that “this statement coming from the governor, and not from members of the JTF, it simply means that the governor is a brain behind the formation of the sect, especially at this critical period when the Federal government is looking for ways of dialogue with the sect.
“I am really disappointed with Shettima for his comment on Boko Haram arrest. Is it now that boko haram members were arrested? He queried, there were a lot of arrests, but all the arrests made so far has not nip the problem in the bud, instead, it add to more attacks from the sect, so why would he as a governor tell the whole world that Boko Haram is over, when we in Borno state are still sleeping with our two eyes not closed.
“It is very undemocratic for the governor to conclude that when some few members of the sect were arrested, then the insecurity being experienced in the state is over, while his government which has failed to address the problem of poverty, unemployment, injustice among others that breeds criminal activities, is posing more harm than good to the state.
“If Shettima would come out and said that some members of the sect were arrested and that he believed that attacks from the sect are over, then he is telling the federal government to overlook or throw to the dust bin the Ambassador Gaji Galtimari led-Committee Report on the security challenges in the North East”.
“If arresting members of the sect would bring to an end of Boko Haram, there wouldn’t have been any crises since the 2009 uprising. Even as I prayed that the issue of Boko Haram would be a thing of the past, I want to emphasized that dialogue is the best option, rather than for a serving governor to come out and started deceiving Nigerians on an issue best to known to him”

Enogie Flees From Police over kidnapping, Kidnappers finger Royal Father as Godfather
Huhuonline.com can authoritatively disclose that a traditional ruler, the Enogie of Ogheghe Community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo state has fled his palace and domain as the Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Command, declared him
wanted in connection to the rising cases of kidnap in Edo State.
His Royal Highness Aghatise Ighiriaro was declared wanted after some suspected kidnappers that were arrested confessed his link to their activities, leading to the recovery of arms and ammunition in his palace after it was searched.
Huhuonline.com checks also revealed that the traditional ruler quickly escaped from the police dragnet following tip-off by some of his loyalists who felt it was sacrilegious to detain a king or royal father.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. David Omojola who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Edo state command, ASP Peter Ogboi, confirmed that “the search for the Enogie is as a result of his alleged complicity in the recent cases of kidnapping, a most thriving and fatal crime in Edo State in spite of the intense war both the police and state security have waged to combat the crime.
A dependable police source told Huhuonline.com that arms and ammunitions that were recently paraded with suspected kidnappers in the state were recovered from a room in the palace, adding that the kidnap suspects were sleeping in the room when the police raided the palace and arrested them.
The Edo state police command had paraded five suspected kidnappers in military camouflaged uniforms and mobile police uniforms, for operation after blocking the highways before abducting their targeted victims.
The suspects, Shammah Ovwiemedaye, Osasumwen Imade, Obodo Oduware, Friday Edosuyi and Uyi Edogiawere were arrested when the police raided the fleeing Enogie’s palace in Ogheghe Community, located along the axis of Benin-Sapele Road.
The community, according to our source has been deserted due to fear expressed by the people that the police could swoop on anybody else, especially family members and friends in the course of their investigation.
Another source said” the king might have disappeared from the heat of the declaration so as to go behind the scene to financially free himself and his apprehended subjects as that was the common reaction from kidnapping ring leaders.”

NCC Advises Naija on killer phone numbers but to beware of killer sims
NCC Advises Naija on killer phone numbers but to beware of dubios sim&tariffs bundled with facebook from S.Africa
The 'killer' numbers are supposedly 09141 and 091441. So basically, when these numbers call you and you pick = you die! Some people claim that 10 people died in Wukari while receiving calls from these phone numbers. Really? Wow! And some people are buying this? OK!
Anyway, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has advised Nigerians to ignore such rumours. The commission said the claim is false and without any iota of truth, and that nothing like that could happen to somebody responding to a phone, no matter the number through which such calls are made. It is only very gullible people that will believe such a rumour, they said
LAGOS, NIGERIA—Nigeria’s government is assuring people in Africa’s most populous nation: a phone call can’t kill you.
A text message has spread across the oil-rich country in recent days, warning that people will die if they answer mobile phone calls from 09141. The widespread fear forced the Nigerian Communications Commission to issue a statement Wednesday saying it is “unimaginable that somebody will die while receiving a call.”
Commission spokesman Reuben Muoka says: “It is only very gullible people that will believe such a rumour.”
Text message panics in Nigeria have included rumours of bombings and rumours that acid rain from seasonal dust storms can burn people alive. The campaigns are aided by poor education and lack of faith in the government.
A call to the number Thursday resulted in no fatalities.

Housewife who was Raped And Impregnated By Robbers
How I Was Raped And Impregnated By Robbers, Housewife Tells CourtA Lagos housewife has narrated to an Ojo Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria how she was raped by armed robbers while travelling to Abuja to process her travelling documents to Italy.
Responding to an application filed by her husband, Mr. Romanus Agu, a Nigerian based in Italy, seeking dissolution of the 10-year old marriage on grounds of infidelity and having a child outside marriage, Mrs. Ugonma Agu described her husband’s accusation that she was impregnated by one of her lovers as untrue.
Narrating how she got pregnant for another man, Ugonma said: “My husband sent me money from Italy to process our travelling papers to join him in Italy and said I have to go to Abuja to do that. I told him I don’t know anybody there and he got angry. He suggested that I go with a night bus and that when I get there in the morning, it will be easy for me. I took the night bus the following day and we were attacked by armed robbers. All the money with me was taken and I was also raped.
“I called my husband and told him all that happened and he yelled at me. A few weeks later he called to apologise and also sent money for me to abort the pregnancy. When I got to the hospital, the doctors told me there was nothing there. But five months later, I realized that I was pregnant and decided to keep it without his knowledge.”
The petitioner had sought to divorce Ugonma on grounds of infidelity, threat to life, lack of love and having a child outside marriage.
According to him, after their marriage on 29 December, 2001 he moved his family to Enugu State and after a few years returned to Italy.
“Not too long after my departure, I started receiving several calls from some of my friends and kinsmen back home about my wife’s infidelity and how she was seen in different hotels with different men. I called her father and told him all I heard and also asked him to caution his daughter.
“Her infidelity was confirmed when she got pregnant for one of her lovers in 2007 and moved to his house in Lagos without my knowledge,” he told the court.
He also accused her of being carefree and unable to feed his children properly. He pleaded with the court to grant him custody of his kids.
The respondent denied the allegations and accused him of neglecting his children. “He insults me whenever I ask him for money,” she added.
After hearing the parties, the president of the court, Mr. T.A. Saheed adjourned the case to 20 September, 2011.

Chinua Achebe Forces 50 Cent To Rename 'Things Fall Apart' Film
So, 50's football film Things Fall Apart has been dropped out of media rotation for awhile, so in this circumstance where it's back to topic, I couldn't be happier, as you're favorite fall-off rapper is now being busted by one of the world's greatest penmen.
Nigerian author Chinua Achebe dropped his literary masterpiece Things Fall Apart back in 1958 (you probably read it in school), and, you'll probably remember, inspired The Roots to name their staple album after the novel. Achebe's title was originally pulled from Yeats' poem "The Second Coming," and now that 50's looking to nab it for a cool $1 million, Achebe's camp has given him a complete literary bitch-slap over the matter.
Here's what Achebe's lawyer said: "The novel with the said title was initially produced in 1958 (that is 17 years before rapper 50 Cent was born), [is] listed as the mostly read book in modern African literature, and won’t be sold for even $1 billion."
So it goes now, 50 has gone with the title All Things Fall Apart, which is still a rip, but whatever

MOSUN FILANI: MUYIWA ADEMOLA AND ODUNLADE ADEKOLA 'THE UNTOLD STORY ABOUT THE THREE OF THEM'
Mosun Filani is one of the prettiest damsels in the Yoruba movie sector who makes the genre tick. She is subtle, sultry, and very attractive.
She looks vulnerable but her articulate disposition coupled with her beautiful face and a figure that turn heads are some of the assets that has made her one of the most sought after actresses at the moment.
But don’t be deceived by her susceptible looks because she has told many that she has what it takes to last in the industry.
After her secondary school education in the ancient city of Ibadan, Mosun secured an admission into the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Ogun State. It was while there that she joined the popular Waheed Ijaduade Theatre Group from where she learnt the ropes in the make belief trade and turned out an excellent product.
Waheed Ijaduade, who is a strong force in the Abeokuta movie industry as an actor, movie producer and also director of note, knew that he had a huge talent in his hands and encouraged her to get to the peak of her career.
It was while with Ijaduade’s group that Mosun was alleged to strike up an affair with the then up and coming actor,Odunlade Adekola who is now a star actor and one of the fastest growing in the sector, who is also based in Abeokuta.
Those in the know say that the relationship was so strong that no one believed they could ever separate.
According to those who were close to her, that relationship also helped to catapult the unknown Mosun to prominence because she used to accompany Odunlade to almost every movie location and the popularity of Odun,as Odunlade is fondly referred to, amongst the producers and actors, coupled with her boss’ strong force in the industry, she began to get roles in movies produced by Abeokuta based producers.
We also learnt that as soon as she began to get popular as a result of the increasing jobs she was getting, Mosun quickly changed base to pitch her tent with star actor, Muyiwa Ademola after meeting him on a movie set where they acted together.
A relationship was said to have kicked started between the two and Muyiwa Authentic, as he is fondly called, became her center of existence.
It was gathered that when the news of her relationship with Muyiwa hit town, it was not only Odun that was disappointed but also other producers who are Odun’s friends and many of them were said to have vowed not to give her roles again.
And within a short while, we gathered that her face faded out and became scarce in movies done by the Abeokuta producers. But what she lost in Abeokuta, she was said to gain even more in the Ibadan axis courtesy of Muyiwa Ademola as he was said to have secured roles for her in movies shot by his numerous producer friends and those he coordinated.
So busy was Mosun in Ibadan that she had to relocate from her Abeokuta base to Ibadan to be able to concentrate on her work.
However, we gathered from close associates who knew of their closeness that it was not only Mosun that suffered a setback due to her relationship with Muyiwa Ademola as the affair ruined the brotherly relationship between Odunlade and Muyiwa and also the relationship between Muyiwa and other Abeokuta producers who vowed to stick by and support Odun whom they saw as one of their own.
We also learnt that when the news hit town that Mosun had relocated to Ibadan so as to be close to Muyiwa Ademola, she was quick to react by telling anyone who cared to listen that she actually went to Abeokuta for her study and along the line, found herself in acting and since her family were based in Ibadan where she incidentally had her early education and grew up, she had to go back to place she calls home.
Meanwhile, while her relationship with Authentic was hot, Mosun always played the lead roles in Muyiwa’s movies and those he coordinated. Such was his influence in her career that he started making enemies with his friends.
We gathered that he once had a run in with his long standing friend Adebayo Tijani, the producer of “Apesin” who reportedly had a fight with Muyiwa over his imposition of Mosun over other babes in their group since she was getting all the lead and juicy roles.
Meanwhile, Muyiwa Ademola is a married man and one way or the other, his relationship with Mosun Filani was said to have gotten to the wife and according to insiders, she once went to warn Mosun to steer clear of her husband and when it seemed Mosun was unrelenting, Muyiwa’s wife was said to have sent emissaries to Mosun whom we gathered warned her to desist from her affair with Muyiwa or she would live to regret her actions.
When Mosun saw that that the threat was taking the shape of reality, she relocated back to Abeokuta where she had initially abandoned and settled down to her rental business.Meanwhile, according to those in the know, Mosun who has dated quite a number of people in and out of the industry is not happy about the development as she was said to have greatly cherished her love affair with Muyiwa more than what she has had with any other person. The reason, we learnt, is because during her liaison with Muyiwa, she gained a lot of confidence in the industry through the constant use of her face on movie posters and jackets courtesy of the man called Authentic.
Mosun has featured in many movies with Amin Ayo bringing her to limelight just as her role as Tracy in jenifa,a movie produced by Funke Akindele also made her very well known.Other movies she has featured in include Apesin, Iranse Aje, amongst others. She has also produced some movies like Alaamu, Iran Kefa and Iku Ewa.

INI EDO: THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE STAR ACTRESS "Darkness is Her Real Surname
Iniobong Edo may be the biggest actress Akwa Ibom State and indeed the South-South can boast of at the moment but those who know her say the name Edo is not her real name as she may have been ashamed of bearing her father’s name.
We gather from close family sources that the star actress’s surname is not Edo and wondered how she got the name.
The source who spoke to us swear that her father, though happy with her success, is not very comfortable with her for changing his name and rubbishing his family name.
We learnt that her real surname is Ekim (Darkness) while she was still struggling to break into the industry, she believed that a name as dark as darkness would not augur well with her, hence she first changed the name to Unwana(Light). But later, she was advised by some friends to look for a more funkified name and after muling for sometime, she decided to settle for the name Edo which to her,is sweet and sharp and does not have to do with darkness at all.
But be that as it may, the name has opened doors for her and no one is sure if a name like Ekim would not have brought her down.

Robbed, raped & axed in their private parts. 3 sisters ordeal at the hands of Evil Robbers in Bariga
For three sisters in Bariga area of Lagos, January 14, 2011 would remain a terrible date in their minds till they breathe their last. On the fateful day, three armed young men allegedly invaded their home, causing unmitigated misery and sorrow.
The men reportedly robbed the three ladies of cash and other valuables. They then took turns to rape their victims. Ogba and Adibe
That wasn’t all. The men then abused and humiliated the sisters by using the handle of their axe to ravage their private parts.
One of the ladies, who was pregnant at the time, allegedly lost her pregnancy. And by the time the monsters in human skin left, the entire room was like a slaughter house with small pools of blood everywhere.
The incident happened at Lawal Street, Bariga.
Nemesis has, however, caught up with two of the suspected robbers. Amaechi Ogba and Ikenna Adibe, both 25, have been arrested in connection with the incident and are both telling the police what they know about the dastardly act. Ugo Nweze, the third suspect, is still on the run. The robbers were said to have climbed the fence around 2.30 am, broke the door with an axe and forced their way into the room.
They robbed the three girls of money and other valuables and later gang-raped them. One of the ladies, who was two months pregnant at the time, lost her baby in the process. She, like the others, almost bled to death.
Among the items stolen from the ladies was a Blackberry, which was allegedly sold to one Isa Muhammed for N13,000. Ironically, it was through the phone that the men of the State Anti -Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja traced and arrested the buyer. Muhammed subsequently took the detectives to the two suspects. On March 6, Adibe and Ogba were arrested. They have since been cooling their heels in police custody.
The victims have also identified both suspects as among the trio that robbed and raped them.
Adibe, in a chat, told our reporter that his gang members and their victims were all neighbours in the Ilaje area of Bariga, admitting that they had robbed the area on two occasions.
He said after forcing their way into the victims’ room, they robbed and raped the ladies.
“They cooperated with us and we collected their wedding rings, their money and their ATM cards. We later raped them.
We raped the three girls in their rooms and we later inserted the handle of the axe in their private parts. One of them even begged us that she was pregnant, but we didn’t budge.” Adibe, who said he hails from Ebonyi State, said one of the victims attended the same secondary school with him in Bariga. He said they spent only one hour in the house of their victims. The other suspect, Ogba, said they used clothes to cover the victims’ faces so that they would not be identified.
“Immediately we took the ATM card, I quickly went to a bank and withdrew N5, 000. Ugo Nweze, who is now at large, was the one who said we should not pity our victims. Immediately we were arrested, the victims were able to identify us because we were all neighbours. We are pleading that we should be forgiven. It was the devil that used us,” he pleaded.
Officer-in-charge of SARS, Mr. Abba Kyari, a superintendent of police (SP), said it was the information on the Blackberry that served as a guide for the policemen. Through the information, the detectives swung into action and arrested the receiver and eventually, the suspects, he said.
Abba said the two suspects had confessed that they had been terrorising the Bariga area of Lagos for some time.
One of the victims, who wouldn’t want her name mentioned, said the experience was bitter and pathetic.
Her words: “We never knew such an incident could happen in our area. We were suddenly woken up in the night and we saw people jumping in through the fence. They broke our door and forcefully entered our room. They demanded for money and we gave them what we had. They demanded for our ATM cards and we gave them. They demanded for our wedding rings, we also gave them. When they demanded for sex, we pleaded with them, using the name of Jesus Christ.
They refused and raped the three of us. As if that was not enough, they started using the handle of the axe with which they broke our door to penetrate our private parts. They didn’t stop until they saw blood coming out.” The lady said they went to the Bariga Police Station to report the ugly incident and later went to the hospital to have themselves examined. “A doctor said we had contacted some Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) and we were treated.
One of the policemen later informed us that they had arrested the suspects and when we got to the police custody we realized that the two suspects were our neighbours. They also confessed and begged us to forgive them for the evil they did to us.” Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Yakubu Alkali, said he was baffled with the acts of the robbers, who not only rob their victims, but also raped them. He said the young men had confessed to their sin. Alkali also said the police recovered an axe and a cutlass used during the operation from the suspects.
When our reporter visited the scene of the robbery, fear was still written on the faces of many people. A resident, Mr. Akin Agbaje, said they had been living in fear of armed robbers since last year. He said many people have fallen victims in the area and appealed to the police to be more vigilant even as he commended them for apprehending the suspects.
According to Alkali, the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Miss Ireland dating 9ja computer whiz hunk: 'We're so in love, we don't care what racists say about
Stunning Miss Ireland Emma Waldron told yesterday in a forthright interview how she will never let 'ignorant' racists affect her love for Nigerian boyfriend Manners Oshafi.
Emma, 21, has been the victim of a vicious internet campaign because of her relationship with a black man and was forced to report an online poster targeting her with hateful and abusive racist comments.
She recently found herself at the centre of a row after one person branded her 'disgusting' for dating a black man.
Love conquers all: Emma Waldron and Manners Oshafi have been dating for a year. The stunning Miss Ireland has been the victim of a vicious internet campaign because of her relationship
And the stunning brunette told the Irish Mail on Sunday in an exclusive interview how one person went so far as to set up an account to target the couple.
'One Twitter account was set up specifically to send me hateful comments.
'But I blocked them and reported them so I don't get the messages any more,' she said.
Friends have dubbed them 'Memmers'
The couple - who have been dating for nearly a year - have even earned their own Brangelina-like portmanteau.
Friends have dubbed them 'Memmers', a combination of Emma and Manners.
And such is the strength of their relationship that Emma and Manners have vowed not to allow themselves to be victimised.
'We are a very strong couple and we don't really care what people think.
'We have not been affected at all by the remarks on Twitter as it just stems from people's ignorance,' said Manners.
Emma, who came fourth in the Miss World competition before Christmas, said that while she has encountered racism while out with Manners, 23, she refuses to let it get to her.
Crown: Emma was named Miss Ireland last year
'I have experienced negative comments on nights out and on social networking sites but it doesn't bother me.
'I will never let someone's ignorance affect my love for Manners. He is the most amazing person I have ever met.
'What colour my skin is doesn't matter to him and what colour his skin is doesn't matter to me.
'What matters in friendship and love is the heart and soul of the person you are in a relationship with and his heart is so big and I'm lucky to be in it,' she said.
The Kildare beauty said while everyone is entitled to their opinion, she feels that now that Ireland is a multi-cultural society, people should be educated.
'I think that Ireland is so rich in many cultures and often times preconceived notions influence how people treat others who are of different colour, creed or sexuality.
'We need to help break down the barriers that sometimes build up in our homes, schools and society. The way to do this is by educating people.'
Emma said that her parents' openness and acceptance has had huge impact on her and her choices.
'My grandmother is Swedish and my dad is part-Italian, so as a family we have always been open,' she said.
'They love Manners and his family love me. There really is no issue of colour at all. He's just my boyfriend.'
Manners moved to Ireland eight years ago with his parents and four siblings. The family first settled in Athlone.
'I don't let the negative comments bother me'
In a reflection of the changing nature of modern Ireland, he revealed that he was the first black boy in his school.
'It was strange coming to Ireland, cold,' he laughed.
'But Ireland is a great country. Myself and my brother were the first black kids in the school in Athlone so we were seen as being different but good different.
'We made good friends and were never bullied.'
Manners has just completed a master's degree in telecommunications engineering at Dublin City University.
Now Emma's boyfriend is helping her develop her website as she has her sights set on a career in television.
'I am going back to St Pat's [St Patrick's College] this year as I want to qualify as a teacher but I would also like to do some TV work,' she said.
The statuesque beauty is currently working with the makers of [reality TV show] Fade Street on an online fashion programme.
'I have been doing an online fashion magazine show called Stylemania and it's going really well. I would love to do some TV work and this is giving me great experience. It's going really well.'
Contender: Emma came fourth in the Miss World competition last year
Emma, who carries out voluntary work with St Vincent de Paul, said that she feels compelled to speak out against bullies and racists.
'I am very lucky in that I have a platform and I can use that. Yes, I have been the target of a bully but I am strong and have dealt with it.
'It's International Day Against Racism tomorrow and I think we all have a role to play to promote equality and raise awareness.
'I can draw from my experiences and even if I help one person to overcome bullying, well, then that's something,' she said.
Emma, who is first violin with the Hibernian Symphony Orchestra, said that people need to be educated on race and different cultures.
'I think it would be very naive of me to say that there is no racism in Ireland. Unfortunately there is.
'If you socialise with people from different races and cultures you are less likely to show hatred towards them. But it still exists. I think people should make an effort to know people different from you.'
The good-looking couple have just bought a Labrador called Herbie and say that while they are very happy together they have no plans to set up home just yet.
'Emma is terrific,' said Manners. 'We are different in some ways but in other ways we are like soul mates.
'We think the same way and sometimes will finish each other's sentences. But Emma is going back to college so we have no plans to move in just yet.'
The computer whizz also revealed that he has no problems with Emma's work as a model.
'Why would I? She always looks great in pictures. She is gorgeous. I'm a lucky man,' he laughed.

40 Female corps members deliver babies in 3 weeks in Oyo alone
The hands of officials and members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Oyo State are full and busy as 40 female corps members among a total of 2,423 deployed to the state for the 2011 Batch ‘A’ Orientation were delivered of babies in camp in the last three weeks
The State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Gabriel Ibe, announced the unprecedented baby boom yesterday during the passing-out ceremony for the serving corps members at the orientation camp in Iseyin.
He said all the nursing mothers, who had put to bed safely, “had initially been accepted for registration in the Batch ‘A’ in line with the policy shift of the scheme.” He, however, remarked that “all these newly-delivered nursing mothers had been sent home to their families after their registration.”
Ibe saidd the three-week orientation exercise had been carefully packaged with a view to exposing corps members to the ideals of patriotic and selfless service thereby preparing them for the challenges ahead during the service year. Apart from this, the participants were exposed to a two-day extensive training by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), “preparatory to the April general elections where they are to undergo their first test of national service.”
While stressing the need for a free and fair election in the country, Ibe called on politicians in the state not to engage in any unwholesome act that could drag the name of the NYSC in the state into their guaqmire.
The NYSC State Coordinator declared: “May I use this opportunity to call on the politicians to leave the corps members out of the muddy politics of Oyo State.”

Nigerian Female Pastor Bags 11.5 years Jail Time for Slave Trade in London
What is the world turning into? You may ask. Be warned all that glitters is not gold, hypocrites have infiltrated the holy vocation, and pastors have become vampires, thus making it salient to sound this note of caution:” be careful under whose care you entrust the welfare of your minors”.
Huhuonline.com can disclose that in the last two months, two members of the clergy, originally of Nigerian descent were found guilty by the British legal system on charges stemming from molestation of minors. The latest is a Pastor (Mrs.) Lucy Adeniji; who was convicted on Friday 11 February at Isleworth Crown Court for her role in keeping trafficked children as domestic servants and assisting with illegal immigration. At her sentencing on Friday March 18, forty four years Lucy Adeniji was handed an eleven and half a year sentence for assault of a child, child cruelty and facilitating the illegal entry of a child into the UK.
Huhuonline.com understands that her woes began in early 2009, when a 23-year-old woman (Olubukols 'Buki' Adeniji), after a brutal assault by Pastor Adeniji, ran out of her Ray Gardens, Barking home in towels and went to a police station and made historic allegations that she had been brought to the UK in early 1997, abused and exploited as cheap childcare until 2006 by Lucy Adeniji. Our checks show that under interview on 15 April 2009 by officers from Operation Paladin, a joint Metropolitan Police Service and UK Border Agency team, Olubukols 'Buki' Adeniji, further stated that at the age of 11 years old, in December 1997, she was brought to the UK by a man she knew as 'Kenny' and placed in the Adeniji household. While in the Adeniji household Buki was to care for the 4 children, in particular their disabled daughter.
Olubukols 'Buki' Adeniji stated that she was not enrolled in school nor registered with a doctor, denied friends and regularly verbally abused and beaten by Lucy Adeniji.
However, in 2000, the Adeniji family moved to the USA and victim Olubukols 'Buki' Adeniji was sent to live elsewhere until they returned in November 2003.
On her return to the Adeniji household, Olubukols 'Buki' Adeniji found that the Adeniji's had a further house girl, Dorcus Amoo living with them and that a boy Solomon Ordu had also been used as a houseboy but had run away. Olubukols 'Buki' Adeniji describes life back in the Adeniji household as volatile and she was regularly beaten and verbally abused by Adeniji.
Olubukols 'Buki' Adeniji described a number of assaults to police, One particular assault in April 2006 was described in detail whereby Adeniji repeatedly hit her with a stick following an argument over a fish meal, to the extent that Olubukols 'Buki' Adeniji fell to the floor unconscious and was then kicked in the head by Adeniji. Olubukols 'Buki' Adeniji states that Dorcus Amoo witnessed this assault, and then told her that Adeniji was going to kill her.
At around the same time as the alleged assault and threat, a pastor at church gave a sermon about parental responsibility and childcare.
Olubukols 'Buki' Adeniji told police that this spurred her on to leave the house and she ran away to stay with friends. Metropolitan Police Service, Detective Inspector Gordon Valentine, from Operation Paladin, said: "At just 11 years old, a time when any child should rightfully be at school, this poor young girl was forced to feed her keepers' children, wash their clothes and do the household cleaning, with little or no access to the outside world. Not only this, but she was in a strange country and beaten for her loyalty".
Julie Reene, assistant director, UK Border Agency, said:
"This was a truly shocking case in which vulnerable children were trafficked into the UK and treated appallingly. Adeniji exploited her victims in the most terrible ways. We will continue to work closely with the police and other law enforcement partners to prevent and prosecute this kind of awful crime". "On 19 May 2009, Adeniji's home address was searched by police and she was arrested on suspicion of trafficking for the purpose of domestic servitude".

Nigerian Mother Jailed In The Uk For Sending Son To Nigeria
The mother of a teenager who claims he was forced to undergo exorcism to purge him of his disobedience has been jailed.
Lydia Erhire has become the first person in the UK to be jailed under forced marriage laws after Edirin Onogeta-Idogun, 17, was sent to Nigeria on holiday and is still there.
He claims he has been subjected to beatings and religious-style ceremonies in the African country to get rid of his behaviour which his mother did not approve of.
Erhire is a devout Christian who had tried to instil a strong sense of discipline in her child and does not approve of his lifestyle, the court heard.
The 17-year-old is still being held against his will – and it is unclear exactly where he is, the High Court in London was told.
His mother was ordered to have her son brought back to Britain but she obstructed efforts and was jailed for eight months yesterday.
Edirin had flown out to Nigeria, where his father John Idogun is a special adviser to the governor of the Delta State, in July.
The teenager, from Newham, east London, was expected back in August to start a college course in Hackney.
He had been given a protection order under forced marriage laws by a judge last year and provided with emergency accommodation before he disappeared.
Mrs Justice Macur said: 'Edirin told his litigation team he had been forced or subjected to procedures which were meant to exorcise him from his disobedience to the will of his parents and to remove him from what they regarded as unsatisfactory friendships.'
In November, after a hearing before another judge, Mrs Erhire signed a letter instructing her sister to facilitate the return of Edirin from his Nigerian boarding school.

* February 14, 2011 - his mother is jailed after being found guilty of contempt of court
But it later emerged that she had immediately sent another letter countermanding the demand.
In February, Edirin attempted to leave Nigeria but was intercepted by immigration officials and taken off his British Airways flight from Lagos.
Mrs Justice Macur ruled Mrs Erhire was not responsible for the February incident but had found she was complicit in November in ‘thwarting’ the court's efforts to have Edirin returned.
Members of the Urhobo tribe appeared before the court and said that his mother was concerned he would become involved in gangs.
The teenager was issued with a Forced Marriage Protection Order last July because he feared he was going to be sent to Nigeria for an arranged wedding.
Jailing the mother for contempt of court, the judge said: ‘I am not satisfied that she is truly remorseful for the imperilment of Edirin's welfare.
‘I am not satisfied that she has shown any indication of a willingness to co-operate on anything but her own terms.
‘The chronology has shown beyond peradventure that this woman only co-operates in the face of a prison sentence and then begrudgingly.’
She ordered that Mrs Erhire should be committed to Holloway Prison immediately for eight months, but said she would have the opportunity to apply to purge her contempt.
The student, who was due to study business and media after finishing his A-levels, came to Britain with his mother in 2004 and had settled in Newham.

Chinese Firms Swindle Nigerian Importers
The managing director of a Lagos-based company, which deals in chemicals, Mr Jude Ekolie (not real name), thought he had a good bargain when he decided to patronise a Chinese company when he was planning to buy merchandise for his firm. Although his fingers had once been burnt in a similar deal in the past, he knew that this was the time to ponder the aphorism of once bitten, twice shy. Risk taking, he had ruminated, is part of entrepreneurship.
Of all the quotations he got, he picked that of Tianjin Jinlaifu Chemicals Company Ltd., Tianjin, China, as the best. But this time he was more careful. So he thought.
In his earlier transaction with another Chinese firm, Hebei Bofate Chemicals Company Ltd, he had on June 15, 2010 wired $2930 through telegraphic transfer for the shipment of water treatment chemicals to Nigeria. But till the time of this report, he had seen neither the goods nor his money. To worsen matters, all efforts to contact the company through its representative, Susan Zhang, came to nought. It had disappeared into thin air.
Given his previous experience, he decided to resort to what he thought was a foolproof method: paying through a letter of credit. His bank, under his instruction, had on August 26, 2010 opened a letter of credit for $14,596.20 with Citibank, New York. Under the terms of payment, the Chinese company is to ship 18.36 metric tonnes of calcium hypochlorite (used for water treatment) to the importer through the Apapa seaport in Lagos.
Payment was to be done through the correspondent bank upon confirmation of the receipt of the chemicals. That did not, however, stop Tianjin Jinlaifu from defrauding him.
But how did the transaction go wrong? Narrating his experience in an interview with Sunday Sun, Ekolie, who was on the Internet chatting with one of the company’s representatives said: “One of the reasons we chose the Chinese was that their price was attractive. While other companies in Europe were quoting around $1,000 per tonne, the Chinese quoted about $600. There was little variation in all the quotations we got from China. So, we settled for Tianjin Jinlaifu with the hope that we would get value for our money.
“Contrary to our agreement, the company shipped to us chemicals that were below the specification we ordered and paid for. We were supposed to be supplied the chemicals in granules. But it was the powder form that was shipped to us. You see, the powdered form is of low quality and it is not a fast-moving product here in Nigeria.”
Shortly after the company received the goods, it asked its bankers, First Bank, to direct Citibank not to honour the letter of credit for now. It brought the matter to the attention of Tianjin Jinlaifu, hoping there was an error that could be rectified. Rather than attend to its complaint, the company gave him a hard choice: ship the goods back. That was when the company knew that it had fallen into the net of another Chinese dupe.
Ekolie said: “We were disappointed. Shipping the goods back is going to be at the detriment of our company. We will require about N1 million to do that. After a long negotiation, the company suggested we should find market for it and sell at a lower price. After that, we instructed our bankers not to pay the full value of the letter of credit.
“Ordinarily, the money should have been paid to the Chinese company after we had received the goods. But our saving grace was that the goods arrived Nigeria before the due date on the letter of credit. So, that gave us enough time to halt the payment as the terms of the transaction had been breached.”
Given his earlier experience, were there no telltale signs that danger was looming? “Yes, there were,” he confesses.
“At the early stage of the transaction, Tianjin Jinlaifu was trying to put some stumbling blocks on our path after we had agreed on the terms of transaction. Shortly after we sealed the deal, the company was delaying the shipment of the goods. On enquiry, its officials advised us that we should buy caustic soda so as to stop Chinese authorities from intercepting the goods. At a stage, we felt the company was only trying to make us part with more money. We began to suspect it had no intention of fulfilling its own side of the bargain,” he added.
Ekolie dismissed claims that his company did not take enough steps to guarantee the fidelity of the transaction and that it should have been suspicious of the low price quoted by the supplier. He said when his company was considering employing an inspection agent to check the goods before shipment, Tianjin Jinlaifu discouraged it, claiming that it could delay the exportation of the goods as Chinese Customs could subject the process to undue bureaucracy.
“Let me say that we knew that we were taking a risk doing business with the Chinese, but risk taking is part of entrepreneurship. Unfortunately for them, there was a delay in payment as we asked Citibank to stay action on payment. Now we have been able to broker a better price deal with them. They set out to defraud us in the first instance. The game plan was to ship the wrong product, get paid before we get to know what hit us.
“Regardless of the very poor credit rating of most Chinese firms, China still remains the second biggest exporter in the world. Not even the United States can ignore the emergence of the Asians.
“That probably explains why Hu Jintao (the Chinese president) got a red carpet treatment at the White House. By 2020, China may overwhelm Germany in the export business. So apart from lower prices from their firms, the Chinese have a lot of things going for them.
“Moreover, there is no entrepreneur who does not take a risk regardless of how astute and successful. There are so many bitter lessons that one cannot learn even from the leading business schools in the world.
“However, I accept the fact that we must learn from our mistakes. Most importantly, it is our desire to enlighten others so they could have a smooth learning curve. When any Nigerian company loses, we see it as a great loss to the nation. That explains why we are crying out,” Ekolie said.
Unfortunately for Ekolie’s company, the matter may drag on endlessly as Chinese police have closed down Tianjin Jinlaifu and arrested some of its officials. Ekolie told Sunday Sun that he learnt that some of those the company had defrauded reported the matter to the police. He, however, decried the attitude of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria to reports of alleged frauds committed by Chinese companies and individuals.
“When we went to report the matter to the Commercial Section of the Chinese Consulate, located at Idejo Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, the officials were not cooperative. We met other importers with similar tales of woes. Even if you request for a visa to go to China to sort out the problem with the exporter, you are not likely to get it,” he said. Sunday Sun investigation show that many Nigerian exporters of chemicals are victims of sharp practices by their Chinese trading partners. One Nigerian importer was said to have lost over N20million in such a transaction with the Chinese.
Curiously, many of them are not willing to go public with their experience. During visits to Ojota and Ilasamaja, two popular chemical markets in Lagos, some of the traders confirmed that they had had nasty encounters with the Chinese but they declined to give details.
Ekolie attributed this to the need to protect their business. According to him, they deal in regulated products and publicity such as this could raise customers’ suspicion that could affect patronage.
“Many of us deal in a market whose products are regulated by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
We are trying to avoid the prying eyes of the agency as such reports could make its officials beam their searchlight on us. That will not be good for business,” he said.
Officials of the Commercial Section of the Chinese Consulate in Lagos declined comments on these allegations. A consulate official, who simply identified himself as Jack, told Sunday Sun on the phone that the consulate was closed for business and would not reopen until after two weeks

youth Corper Shot… Mistaken For Antelope
It was a narrow escape for Miss Christiana Enechejo Paul, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, after she was mistaken for an antelope and shot at by her landlord in the village of Mbube, Ogoja in northern Cross River State.
•Miss ‘Antelope’ Enechejo on her hospital bed.
P.M.NEWS gathered yesterday that Miss Enechejo, a graduate of Auchi Polytechnic serving at Comprehensive College, Mbube, was posted to Bepeh, a neighbouring community where she is doing her primary assignment by INEC as adhoc staff for the just concluded voter registration exercise.
In Bepeh, she and another female colleague were given a room to share in the home of the village primary school headmaster as temporary quarters while undertaking the registration exercise.
“I and my colleague were given a room from where we report to the registration point each morning,” Miss Enechejo told P.M.NEWS.
She said on the morning of the fateful day at about 5:45 a.m., she had gone to the nearby bush at the back of the house, which is a cassava farm owned by the village headmaster. While there son of the headmaster joined her in the bush and soon left in a hurry only for the father to come out with a gun and fire at her.
“I understand the boy went back to the house to tell the father that he had seen the antelope that was always coming to eat their cassava in the cassava farm every morning. But I did not know that that was what he did, I only heard gun shots and pellets hitting me,” she said on her hospital bed.
Miss Enechejo, who was rushed to the Catholic Hospital Moniaya in Igoli, has again been taken back to Mbube where the pellets are being extracted from her body by a traditional healer.
“She is recovering gradually, the pellets are still buried in her body that is why she is still shivering,” Mrs. Catherine Umoru, elder sister to Miss Enechejo, who is looking after her, told our correspondent.
Mrs. Umoru said the INEC zonal officer for Ogoja has visited Enechejo.
“We have not been asked to pay any bills yet. We do not know what will happen when she gets well,” she said.
The police at the Divisional Police Station in Ogoja told P.M.NEWS that the headmaster, whose name they refused to disclose, and his gun have been transferred to Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Cross River Police Command, ASP Etim Dickson, said he was not aware of the incident but reliable sources at the command at Diamond Hill said the headmaster is with the anti-homicide department. The matter is still being investigated...
Mr. Michael Igini, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, who spoke to our correspondent on phone, said “the girl is recovering and the pellets are being extracted from her body.
